I was on H1B for almost 4 years thus i was filing 1040 , I became a permanent resident of Canada in 2009 and i have abandon my status in the US in end of April 2009. I am filing as dual status.
I read that i have to write statement to IRS stating my residency termination date is that true ? Do i attach copies of my visa? Do i need to file form 8840? if i want to have a tax expert review the return i prepared how much that would cost me. Thanks |

We do NOT want to post fee quotes on the forum, because everyone's situation is different. Please email me at taxexpert@visataxes.com for a fee quote.
The residency termination statement is required instead of Form 8854. The required information for the statement is listed in IRS Pub 519, page 10. Copies of your visa is NOT required.
