Hi,
I was in USA for last year in Jan & Feb'2009 and moved to home country i.e. India in Mar'2009. Previous year I filed 1040A infact Mr. David Kempe did prepared the returns. Which form should I use for 2009? Thanks Anand |

You have a choice,
1) You can file dual-status and pay taxes only on U.S.-sourced income. You lose the standard deduction, but the income level may be small enough that it does not matter. this return must be mailed. OR 2) You can file as a resident, but you would have to claim your India-sourced income on the return, while also filing Form 1116 to claim the Foreign Tax Credit.
