Default W-4 with J1/J2 VISAs

I am a postdoc with J-1 visa. My wife and daugther have J-2 dependent visa.

I have SSN. My wife and daugher does not have SSN. My wife does not work.

I have anotehr daugther born in the states last month.

We are all in the States.

I am entering my 3'rd year now and will need to start paying taxes and fill W-4 form.

1. Am I considered as resident alien for tax purposes?
2. Am I considered as married filling joinly? Does my wife must have SSN for this? Should I apply for ITN for her?
3. Can I claim exemptions for my first daughter? She does not have SSN, but I am paying preschool for her. Should I apply for ITN for her?
4. Can I claim exemptions for my wife?
5. Can I claim exemptions for my second (US citizen) daughter?

Thanks.

Default Need information

To properly answer your question, I need to know:

- The EXACT date you arrived in country.

- The name of your home country.

- Whether your employer considers you to be exempt from federal taxes.

- The state in which you currently work and live.

- Whether your employer is withholding FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes.
